Quzhou City governs Kecheng District, Qujiang District, Jiangshan City, Longyou County, Changshan County and Kaihua County. Kecheng District has 8 sub-districts, including Fushan, Huayuan, Hehua, Xin’an, Shuanggang, Quhua, Xinxin, and Baiyun; 8 townships, including Shishi, Huashu, Gouxi, Jiangjiashan, Qili, Jiuhua, Wantian, and Huangjia; 2 towns, including Hangbu and Shiliang; 56 community committees, and 213 village committees. With a total area of 609 square kilometers and a population of 446,800. The District People’s Government is located at No. 28, Hesan Road, Quzhou City. Qujiang District governs 8 townships, including Yunxi, Taizhen, Shuangqiao, Zhoujia, Huiping, Huangtankou, Jucun, and Lingyang; 10 towns, including Gaojia, Lianhua, Xiachuan, Duze, Shangfang, Nianli, Houxi, Hunan, Dazhou, and Quanwang; 2 sub-districts, including Fushi and Zhangtan; 279 administrative villages, and 6 community neighborhood committees. With a total area of 1,748 square kilometers and a population of 411,600. The District People’s Government is located at No. 6, Fuqian Road, Zhangtan Street. Longyou County is located in the east of Quzhou City. It is adjacent to Jinhua in the east, Suichang in the south, Qujiang District in the west, Jiande in the north, and Lanxi in the northeast. Its total area is 1,143 square kilometers, with a population of 399,700. It has 6 towns, 7 townships and 2 sub-districts, 263 administrative villages, and 11 community committees. The County People’s Government is located at No. 28, Taipingxi Road, Longzhou Street. The Jiangshan City is located in the southwest of Quzhou City, with Kecheng District in the northeast, Qujiang District and Suichang County in the east, Pucheng County in Fujian Province in the south, Yushan County and Guangfeng County in Jiangxi Province in the west, and Changshan County in the north. The total area is 2019 square kilometers and the population is 613,300, with jurisdiction over 3 sub-districts, 11 towns, 5 townships, 292 villages, and 16 community committees. The Municipal People’s Government is located at No. 118, Zhongshan Road, Shuangta Street. Changshan County is located in the west of Quzhou City. It is adjacent to Qujiang District in the east, Jiangshan City in the south, Yushan County in Jiangxi Province in the southwest, Kaihua County in the northwest, and Chun’an County in Hangzhou in the northeast. The total area is 1099 square kilometers and the population is 343,600, with jurisdiction over 6 towns, 5 townships, 3 sub-districts, 180 administrative villages, and 10 community committees. The County People’s Government is located at No. 29, Shengli Street, Tianma Street. Kaihua County is located in the northwest of Quzhou City. It is adjacent to Chun’an County in the northeast, Changshan County in the southeast, Yushan County, Dexing City, and Wuyuan County in Jiangxi Province in the west and northwest, and Xiuning County in Anhui Province in the north. The total area is 2236.61 square kilometers and the population is 360,500, with jurisdiction over 8 towns, 6 townships, 255 administrative villages, and 11 community committees. The County People’s Government is located at No. 54, Jiefang Street, Qinyang Office. Ethnicity Han Chinese constitute the majority of Quzhou’s population. Quzhou is an area where ethnic minorities live scattered and mixed, with 46 ethnic minorities and a population of 39,000. Among them, there are 22,000 She Chinese, followed by Miao, Yi, Tujia and Buyi. The ethnic minorities living in Quzhou are mainly She and Hui. Other ethnic minorities basically came to Quzhou because of marriage, job assignment and transfer. The distribution of ethnic villages in the city has formed a “1+49” pattern, i.e. 1 ethnic township (Muchen She Ethnic Township in Longyou County) and 49 She ethnic villages. There are currently 2 ethnic primary schools, i.e. Minority School Zone of Dacheng Primary School in Kecheng District and Muchen Township Minority Primary School in Longyou County. Religion There are currently five major religions in Quzhou, including Buddhism, Taoism, Islam, Catholicism, and Christianity. As of May 2021, there are 26 patriotic religious groups in cities and counties (or cities and districts), including 6 municipal religious groups (Quzhou Municipal Buddhist Association, Quzhou Municipal Taoist Association, Quzhou Municipal Islamic Association, Quzhou Municipal Catholic Patriotic Association, Quzhou Municipal Christian Three-Self Patriotic Association, Quzhou Municipal Christian Association). There are 297 approved and registered places of religious activity (93 Buddhist, 1 Taoist, 188 Christian, 14 Catholic, and 1 Islamic), with 397 religious personnel (78 Bhikshu, 18 Bhikshuni, 100 Taoist priests, 1 imam, 3 priests, 2 nuns, 6 pastors, 3 teachers, 40 elders, and 146 missionaries). There are 243 folk belief sites with registration numbers. By the end of 2022, the total registered population in Quzhou was 2.5503 million, including 1.2979 million males and 1.2524 million females, accounting for 50.9% and 49.1% of the total population respectively. The annual birth population was 13,700, with a birth rate of 5.37‰; the death population was 18,400, with a death rate of 7.19‰; the natural growth rate was -1.82‰. According to the 5‰ Population Change Sampling Survey in 2022, the city’s resident population was 2.29 million at the end of the year. The annual per capita disposable income of all residents was 45,276 yuan, an increase of 6.1% over the previous year, and an increase of 3.5% after deducting price factors. In terms of permanent residence, the per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents was 57,465 yuan and 31,468 yuan, an increase of 5.3% and 7.5%, or 2.7% and 4.9% respectively after deducting price factors. The living consumption expenditure of all residents was 26,981 yuan, an increase of 7.7%, or an increase of 5.1% after deducting price factors. In terms of permanent residence, the per capita living consumption expenditures of urban residents and rural residents were 33,630 yuan and 19,450 yuan, an increase of 7.0% and 8.8%, or 4.4% and 6.1% respectively after deducting price factors.
