The technology of acupuncture and moxibustion is shared by the world. On November 26th, the opening ceremony of The Third World Health Conference of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, along with the keynote speech of “Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture and Moxibustion: Inheritance and Innovation”, hosted by World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies, China Association of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, Zhejiang Provincial Association of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, and Quzhou Municipal People’s Government, is held in Qujiang District. Quzhou municipal leaders Gao Yi, Zheng Hejiang and Li Ning, academician Zhang Bolei of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Liu Baoyan, president of the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies, Yu Xiaochun, president of the China Association of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, and Cao Qifeng, deputy director of the Health Commission of Zhejiang Province, are present.

As the “homeland of acupuncture and moxibustion”, in recent years, Qujiang District has always focused on the essence of acupuncture and moxibustion culture, upholding fundamental principles and breaking new ground, boosting its branding, talent cultivation, industrial agglomeration, cultural promotion and other aspects. Qujiang continues to promote the integration of Chinese health care, traditional Chinese medicine industry, and Chinese medicine culture, accelerating the development of health industry by pressing the “fast-forward button”.

In his speech, Liu Boyan says that Chinese acupuncture is a valuable medical heritage of the Chinese nation, containing the unique spirit, thinking and cultural essence of the Chinese nation. Quzhou, as the hometown of Yang Jizhou, shows a strong sense of responsibility in the inheritance and development of acupuncture and moxibustion culture, and consistently promote the brand of “China Acupuncture and Moxibustion City”. Liu hopes that Quzhou will meet the needs of the development of the times, strengthen international exchanges and cooperation, insist on inheriting the essence, upholding fundamental principles and breaking new ground, advancing with the times, drawing on the excellent experiences and practices in the field of acupuncture and health from all over the world. He also hopes that Quzhou will constantly explore and improve the theoretical system, technical methods and management mode of acupuncture and health, and make every effort to promote the high-quality development of the cause of acupuncture and health.

Zhang Boli delivers a keynote speech entitled “Reflections on the High Quality Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the New Era”. His report focuses on the the CPC Central Committee’s emphasis on and support for the development of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), the significance of the “two combinations”, the challenges to the development of medicine, and the problems faced by the clinical high-quality development of TCM.The report employs in-depth theory, vivid language and detailed cases to elaborate the idea of high-quality development of TCM, and puts forward pointed proposals for the high-quality development of acupuncture and health care industry and TCM industry.

The ceremony of project signing and unveiling is held.The leaders attending the meeting unveils the plaque for Yang Jizhou Acupuncture Research Institute, and awards plaques for the Education Steering Committee of the World Federation of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Societies, the Health-preserving Technique Training Base of the China Association of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, and the municipal designated rehabilitation institution for children with disabilities in Zhejiang Province. Other activities include commemoration of Yang Jizhou’s birthday, the forum themed on innovation and industrial development of Yang Jizhou’s acupuncture heritage.

Leaders of relevant national and provincial departments, leaders of World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies and China Association of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, experts and scholars of acupuncture and moxibustion at home and abroad, renowned doctors as Quzhou locals residing in other places and representatives of TCM business sector are present.
